Abstract

Islamic calligraphy is not merely a form of writing but an aesthetic tradition deeply rooted in the cultural and spiritual framework of Islamic civilization. This article explores the concept of aesthetics in Islamic calligraphy by examining its historical development, stylistic diversity, philosophical foundations, and symbolic representations. The study highlights how the calligrapher’s spiritual intent and the viewer's perception converge to create a multidimensional experience that transcends language. Through an analysis of various classical scripts such as Kufic, Thuluth, and Naskh, and their evolution across time and space, this paper discusses the visual harmony, proportionality, and rhythm that define the unique beauty of Islamic script. The article draws on both visual analysis and classical Arabic sources to understand how Islamic calligraphy continues to inspire modern design and artistic expression in the Muslim world.
