PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The Journal of Religious, Literature and Cultural Studies (JORLCS) follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure the integrity, objectivity, and academic quality of all published content. This means that the identities of both the authors and reviewers are kept anonymous throughout the review process.
Steps in the Review Process
· Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, the manuscript is reviewed by the editorial team to ensure it meets the journal’s scope, formatting requirements, and ethical standards (including plagiarism check).
· Assignment to Reviewers
If the submission passes the initial screening, it is assigned to two or more independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.
· Review Criteria
Reviewers assess the manuscript based on:
o Originality and contribution to the field
o Clarity of research objectives and methodology
o Relevance and depth of analysis
o Proper use of literature and citations
o Coherence, structure, and academic language
· Reviewer Recommendations
Based on their evaluation, reviewers provide one of the following recommendations:
o Accept as is
o Minor revisions required
o Major revisions required
o Reject
· Editorial Decision
The editor considers the reviewers’ feedback and makes a final decision. Authors are then notified of the outcome and, if applicable, provided with reviewer comments for revision.
· Revision and Resubmission
If revisions are requested, authors must submit a revised version along with a response letter detailing changes made in line with reviewer suggestions.
· Final Decision & Publication
Once the revised manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to copyediting, proofreading, and publication.
Review Timeline
JORLCS aims to complete the review process within 4 to 6 weeks, though this may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
Reviewer Confidentiality & Ethics
All reviewers are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, provide constructive feedback, and declare any conflicts of interest. The journal upholds the principles set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
