Abstract

Sacred spaces hold profound cultural, historical, and religious significance across civilizations. These spaces, whether physical or symbolic, serve as pivotal loci of community identity, spiritual practice, and cultural continuity. This paper explores the cultural dimensions of sacred spaces through anthropological and sociological lenses, analyzing their symbolic architecture, rituals, and community interactions. Focusing on prominent sacred sites in South Asia and the Middle East, the study reveals how these places function not only as spiritual centers but also as agents of cultural heritage and socio-political influence. The article further reflects on the transformation of sacred spaces in contemporary contexts due to globalization and urbanization.
